Key takeaways
- E.max veneers in Turkey cost £250–£400 per tooth at Dr. Wonder Clinic, against roughly £700–£1,200 per tooth at UK private clinics.
- A full upper smile of 10 E.max veneers in Turkey costs about £2,500–£4,000, compared with £7,000–£12,000 for the same work in London.
- With good care and a night guard where needed, E.max veneers typically last 10–15 years before replacement.
- E.max is the better choice for natural-looking front teeth; zirconia is the better choice for heavy grinders, dark stained teeth and back teeth.
- E.max veneers need only 0.3–0.7 mm of enamel removed, so most of the natural tooth stays in place.
What are E.max veneers?
E.max veneers are thin porcelain shells made from lithium disilicate glass-ceramic, a material made by Ivoclar under the IPS e.max brand. They are bonded to the front of the teeth to change colour, shape, size or small gaps. Because the material lets light pass through it like natural enamel, E.max is the most common choice for a natural-looking smile makeover.
Three properties make E.max different from other porcelain:
- Translucency: light passes through the veneer instead of bouncing off it, so teeth do not look flat or chalky.
- Thinness: a veneer can be milled or pressed as thin as 0.3 mm, so less enamel is removed.
- Bond strength: E.max can be etched and bonded directly to enamel, which makes the veneer and tooth act as one unit.
In Turkey, E.max veneers are often sold under the name “laminate veneers”. At Dr. Wonder Clinic, our Laminate Veneers (EMAX) treatment uses this material.
How much do E.max veneers cost in Turkey?
E.max veneers in Turkey cost £250–£400 per tooth, about 60–70% less than UK private prices. The price is set per tooth, but the plan is set per smile, so the number of veneers you need matters more than the unit price.
| Number of E.max veneers | Turkey (Dr. Wonder Clinic) | UK private clinic |
|---|---|---|
| 1 veneer | £250–£400 | £700–£1,200 |
| 6 veneers (front teeth) | £1,500–£2,400 | £4,200–£7,200 |
| 10 veneers (upper smile) | £2,500–£4,000 | £7,000–£12,000 |
| 20 veneers (full smile) | £5,000–£8,000 | £14,000–£24,000 |
Turkey prices are Dr. Wonder Clinic 2026 ranges. UK prices are based on published London clinic price lists checked in October 2026 (Whites Dental).
A quote at Dr. Wonder Clinic includes the consultation, X-rays and digital scan, temporary veneers, the final veneers, local anaesthetic and post-fit checks. Hotel and airport transfers are included in package deals.
What raises the price: gum contouring, teeth whitening on untreated teeth, a root canal or filling before the veneer, and a digital smile design mock-up.
How long do E.max veneers last?
E.max veneers last 10–15 years on average, and many last longer when bonded to healthy enamel. Composite veneers, by comparison, usually need replacing after 5–7 years.
The four factors that decide lifespan:
- Bonding to enamel: veneers bonded to enamel last longer than those bonded to exposed dentine. This is why minimal preparation matters.
- Grinding (bruxism): night-time grinding is the most common reason a veneer chips. A night guard costs little and protects the investment.
- Gum health: gum recession can expose the edge of the veneer. Regular cleaning keeps the margin hidden.
- Habits: biting nails, opening packets with teeth and chewing ice all increase the risk of a fracture.

E.max vs zirconia: which is better?
E.max is better for appearance and zirconia is better for strength. Neither is better in every case; the right choice depends on where the tooth sits and how hard you bite.
| Feature | E.max (lithium disilicate) | Zirconia |
|---|---|---|
| Look | Translucent, closest to natural enamel | More opaque, can look slightly flat |
| Strength (approx.) | 400–500 MPa | 600–1,200 MPa, depending on type |
| Enamel removed | 0.3–0.7 mm | 0.5–1.0 mm |
| Covers dark stains | Moderately | Very well |
| Best position | Front teeth (smile zone) | Back teeth, heavy biters |
| Lifespan | 10–15 years | 10–15+ years |
| Price in Turkey (per tooth) | £250–£400 | £220–£380 |
Strength figures are approximate values from manufacturer material data.
The same logic applies to crowns: an E.max crown suits a front tooth, while a zirconia crown suits a molar that takes the full force of chewing. See Zirconia Crown vs Porcelain Veneer for crown-specific advice.
What most E.max guides don’t tell you
Most veneer problems come from planning and preparation, not from the material itself. Three things to check before you book:
- “E.max” on the quote does not guarantee E.max in your mouth. Ask for the Ivoclar material card or lab certificate with your veneers. A genuine certificate shows the product name and batch number.
- Fewer veneers can give a better result. A dentist who quotes 20 veneers for every patient is selling units, not a smile. Many patients need 8–10 upper veneers only.
- Over-shaving is the real “Turkey teeth” risk. E.max should need 0.3–0.7 mm of reduction. If a clinic plans to shave teeth down to pegs, that is crown preparation, not veneer preparation. Ask to see the digital smile design and preparation plan first.
Frequently asked questions
Are E.max veneers the same as porcelain veneers?
E.max veneers are a type of porcelain veneer. They use lithium disilicate glass-ceramic, which is stronger and thinner than traditional feldspathic porcelain.
How many days do I need in Turkey for E.max veneers?
Most patients need 5–7 days in Istanbul. Day 1–2 covers the consultation, preparation and scans; the final veneers are tried in and bonded on day 5–7.
Do E.max veneers stain?
No. The glazed ceramic surface does not stain from coffee, tea or red wine. The bonding cement at the edge can discolour slightly over many years.
Can E.max veneers be whitened?
No. Veneers keep the shade they were made in. If you want whiter natural teeth around them, whiten before the veneers are made.
Is E.max or zirconia better for teeth grinders?
Zirconia is better for heavy grinders because it is roughly twice as strong. Grinders who choose E.max should wear a night guard.
Are E.max veneers worth it in Turkey?
For most UK patients, yes, if the clinic shows a smile design, uses certified material and plans minimal preparation. The saving on 10 veneers is often £4,500 or more, which covers flights and hotel.
